1. Curriculum and Learning Management Objectives

  • Kindergarten “Students are able to read, write and calculate.”
The school’s curriculum objectives aim for students to mature physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. Students learn through a process that integrates life skills with their daily environment into one themed lesson per week. The learning process includes hands-on activities that students experience with their five senses while enjoying their lessons. Through this strategy, students absorb knowledge naturally instead of memorizing, and teachers are able to evaluate individual student’s development.
  • Primary and Secondary School
“Primary students are able to think, act and solve problems.”
“Secondary students are able to think creatively and imaginatively.” Students learn by determining questions that they want to know about and searching for answers or solving problems by themselves. They are able to use technology, such as iPad and iTunes U application, to assist them in their studies and to search for answers or information. Hence, while students are learners, they also become questioners and repliers.

It is natural for secondary students at their age level to have their own ideology. Therefore, students are encouraged to share their ideas and opinions and to demonstrate their skills and talent in ways to enhance their studies. For instance, students organize an exhibition of their own work and arrange the entire procedure. As a result, they learn to work systematically as a team, use technology to search for information and solve problems

2. English Program Learning Process

The school’s English Program incorporates the Thai curriculum with a curriculum from Canada. Fifty percent of our English Program curriculum is instructed by native English-speaking teachers who use a variety of teaching strategies that are interesting, exciting and enjoyable. Through the immersion learning process, students learn and use English naturally. For instance, while students learn the Thai alphabet with their Thai teachers, they also learn the English alphabet with the international teachers. There are different expected student development outcomes for each grade level as follows:

The school’s native English-speaking teachers have experience teaching with the Manitoba curriculum, and are qualified to plan and manage effective lessons and activities for the students. In the Primary Level, students are instructed in English in 5 subjects – English Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, Physical Education and Computer. As for the Secondary Level, students also Health Education in addition to the five subjects taught at the Primary Level. The textbooks used in all subjects are qualified imported textbooks and supplements professionally compiled by the school’s specialized experts.

Through Lertlah School’s English Program, students learn in-depth knowledge both in Thai and English languages with additional knowledge of English vocabulary terms. Moreover, students also take an English Grammar Class to reinforce their understanding of English and practice using it in communication for fluency and accuracy. In the classrooms, our students learn English naturally through listening to stories told by the teachers, answering questions and writing their own stories each week. In this way, students learn from their own mistakes in speaking and writing.

All the above mentioned is to ensure parents’ confidence in Lertlah School Kachanapisek Road. We are confident that with our unique curriculum, students are able to develop and improve both academically and morally. They will be proud and confident to compete with others around the world. Parents will not be disappointed with their decision to entrust their children with us.

Kindergarten Curriculum

Lertlah School Division has developed our own Kindergarten Curriculum based on the Thai Ministry of Education’s curriculum. After analyzing all content, we designed integrated lessons and learning activities by applying Child Centered and Action Learning approaches. Students are equipped with a variety of modern learning materials. Every activity is created to develop moral and thinking skills, as well as group process skills. Students will be spending half of the day learning in English with foreign teachers and the other half with Thai teachers.

Moreover, we focus on ensuring that students learn about Thai and Buddhist values, such as paying respect to elders and showing generosity to their peers. Our activities are designed to enhance age appropriate physical development within our students.
